I find myself saying I want to go home
When I’m already there.
If I’m already in bed,
With the covers over my head,
Then what place else am I longing for?
Is home really me wrapped up
In my comfort zone,
Blocking out the sun
Away from futile interactions
That make me question
My self worth and what it’s all for
It’s safer when I don’t take chances
Safer when I hide from faces
That pretend they know it all
When they know just as much as me
They just took a shot
And didn’t care where the bullet landed,
But I think I do
I think I care whether it impacted
Whether it fragmented
And left concentric fractures,
Wether the waves reached the soul
Enough to speak life into another.
The fear haunts me,
Like the dead man who didn’t understand.
Laying in bed feels easy
But creating nothing is non-existent.
