Holding Your Breath

Inhale, exhale, the rhythm of breath,

A dance of life, a tether to death.

But there are moments when air feels too real,

When lungs are stifled, when stillness we feel.

To hold your breath is to suspend time,

To freeze in a moment, both yours and mine.

A gasp of anticipation, a moment's pause,

A desperate longing for a greater cause.

Silence envelops, breath held in tight,

Nerves electric, trembling, such exquisite plight.

Eyes wide open, heartbeats resound,

In this suspended motion, an entire world is found.

Time slows down, seconds stretch to years,

And all that matters is what's held in arrears.

In this breathless state, dreams take flight,

Imagination soars, together we ignite.

Through the stillness, a tension unfurls,

Unspoken desires, secrets in swirls.

The universe listens, poised and aware,

In the held breath, passions declare.

Like a taut string on a violin's bow,

We wait and wait, not sure where to go.

The anticipation builds, a crescendo nears,

Within this fleeting pause, hope appears.

And then, with a sigh, breath is released,

A rush of life, a flurry of peace.

In that moment, we find our respite,

Exhaling our fears, embracing the light.

So hold your breath, if only for a while,

Let the power of silence make you smile.

For in the pause, truths are unveiled,

And in the release, a new world is hailed.
