my lungs filter the words that my mouth wants to speak

they dissolve like sugar on my tongue

once held by strings and longing to be free

an addict still craving to be drunk

held to a standard that was never my own

broken promises bleed leaving wounds

reaping a harvest from seeds left unsewn

reviving bones as I rise from this tomb

venom flows freely like smoke from his mouth

hiding the truth of what lies beneath

stirring up questions of undisclosed doubt

like the promises left stuck, in his teeth
