I'm chasing smiles through the thicket of thoughts,

I'm walking on the dry grass of doubts,

I've pricked myself on thorns of hope,

I've refused to let go of this binding rope,

I held it tight till it ran red,

The tighter I held, the more I bled,

The winds picked up my muted call,

It whispered to me the truth that made me stall,

"Let go," it said, "one finger at a time."

I decided to smile without a thought,

I decided to leave behind my doubt,

I decided to once again have hope,

It was then that I could let go of the binding rope.
