A mother’s dreams

I drift off to sleep

As the wind grows louder

And the birds become still

I feel the emptiness in the heaviness of my core

What could’ve been

And where you’re held

The faces who know you as I never could

The welcome you received

As you left the home I build for you

The home I constructed in my sleep

My sleep

I only knew you in my sleep

I’ll wait for you there

And maybe

I can hold you

As you sleep
