Hiding from the World

When Silence No Longer Sufficient

I hide behind shadows

in a place where the world can’t trace my steps

there, I gather my broken breaths

weaving them into a cloak of calm

though my heart still pounds, never ceasing to knock

like an uninvited guest in the dead of night.

the world is harsh, you know?

like a storm that never learns when to settle

I run, then stop

hiding behind a door I shut tight

waiting for silence to embrace me

with its cold, yet comforting hands.

here, I can pretend to disappear

but the truth stands at the edge of my eye

silent, waiting for its turn to speak

as if the world will never stop calling my name

I stay here, slipping into the darkness

hoping time forgets to follow me.

but... no one can hide forever, right?

these walls begin to whisper

the floor beneath me turns to glass

transparent, showing every scar

I try to close my eyes, close my ears

but the world still screams through the cracks.

I can feel gravity pulling me back

into the battle I thought I had left

and though I hide here,

in this place I believed was safe

the world has found me

and me?

I can’t run anymore.
