Life's a gamble.
I realized this in the moments I first truly encountered him.
He knew it was a gamble–
We'd talked about this moment as if it would be the only one.
Yet here we are months later.
At this poker table,
With masks and facades on all to go around,
He still knew better than anyone.
Somehow he just knew–
Understood me.
Those eyes–those damn blue eyes.
I never looked to them before
Out of fear [maybe] that I would get lost
In an ocean of you–
But that's exactly what I needed to do.
Life's a gamble,
And while there are bad eggs, the good ones are there too.
He knew what he wanted–
He told me after a couple weeks. He remembered me from one night months before.
And that's when he said
"I knew I wanted
To see that smile every day I possibly could.
I saw you instantly
I thought that you were beautiful, that I'd never be so lucky
That you would end up here with me at all.
Yet here we are.
