Her Storm

Overcoming your shadows

Her soul wasn't prepared for what was to come

And it was too late for her to run

The warm sun started to dim and fade

Trapping her mind in the cold dark shade

Gusts of wind knocked her down repeatedly

On her knees she lowered her head defeatedly

Her heart ached and her soul craved freedom

But, she felt powerless against this demon

She was surrounded by her fears in the eye of the storm

Her negative thoughts and self doubt began to swarm

For years, she was trapped, begging for mercy

As the storm belittled her, making her feel unworthy

Until one day she heard a quiet voice calling out for help

She couldn't see anyone, but she heard a desperate yelp

She rose to her feet and closed her eyes

She started thinking about all the pain and all the lies

That's when a small fire was ignited inside

She opened her eyes and took a step of faith

The harsh cold wind whipped against her stinging face

There was no light, no love, no help around

She almost gave up when something started shaking the ground

Again, the voice cried out for help in agony

This time, she faced the storm vigorously

The wind could no longer knock her down

The rain slowed until it stopped hitting the ground

The warm sun gleamed from the sky onto her cold skin

Revealing the path to her voice that cried out from within

An awakening that only the passing of a storm can bring

She was on a path to finding herself, self love and solitude

She knew there was no limit to the things she could do

This time her peace can't be taken

Because her soul was awakened
