A new day passes, sun setting, the night sky radiant in its colours,
She quietly watches,
Silently contemplating,
As the world spins on its axis.

The breeze rustles the leaves on the tree above her,
A silent tear escapes from one eye, running down her cheek,
A solo finger reaches up and wipes the drop away,
She believes it went unnoticed.
**
Until she hears a deep voice from behind her,
“You handled it so well,” he whispers,
Wrapping his arms around her,
But she stubbornly shakes her head.
**
They stand in silence,
She, lost in her memories,
He, waiting patiently, knowing the words would come,
Given enough time.
**
She turns within his arms,
Gazes into his eyes and pauses,
The pain scurrying across her face,
And she laughs sarcastically.
**
Then he hears her words, trembling with her truth,
“No, I didn’t. I went insane; I broke; I shattered,
I cried in silence and I couldn’t ask for help,
While wearing my smile — a mask that covered the lies, the devastation, the destruction,
The landing as I reached rock bottom.”
**
He held her tight,
Knowing there was more to come,
The final confession that she’d hidden so well,
“I didn’t handle it — I survived because I had no other choice.”
**
And there laid the honest truth,
Her truth, her vulnerability, her strength,
They watched as the full moon rose in front of them,
Understanding that now the healing could begin!
