Her Elegant Rage

Poem based on Women's Freedom Fighting — a poem I have created for a project regarding the partition of India.

Self-less sacrifice to see a prospering nation become

Do not let history forget our women who’s valour’s unsung

Rani Lakshmi, the first prominent freedom fighter

No surrender

Filling our hearts with respect, through their rebellion

Fearless, self-ruling queens

India’s independence was not fought for by only men

It was not fought for by invisible faces

The bravery, the bravery, the beauty amongst

Let us not forget the elegance beneath their mighty ambitious rage

In their fight for freedom

For they are a scarlet red rose, simply feminine

With strong and defensive thorns
