Her Destiny

Not Fitting in Can be a Sign of Greatness

In the quiet of the night, she sobbed

Asking God, or whoever’s out there

Why do you hate me so?

Why have you cursed me

With this quick mind

And this tender heart?

Why, pray tell, have you condemned me,

To never fit,

To sit it all out,

Outside, looking in?

The years passed, ten by ten,

And she repeated her desperate cry.

Always outside,

Alone in the crowd,

Marked still with the bitter shame

Of her uniqueness.

Until one day, a voice

Familiar, yet unknown,

Stirred her from within

As the truth began to unfold.

“You’re outside,

Because you don’t go in.

You’re alone,

Because you built a wall.”

These burdens you carry,

Are your greatest gifts.

Embrace them,

Use them,

For you are not meant

To be part of the crowd

Because you’re meant

To lead the pack.
