Hello Athens
My New Home
Hello Athens, my new home
I’ve been away for much too long
There was a vision softly flowing
Made me yearn for you while dreaming
And this reverie was playing in my heart
All your love
Within my love for Athena
...
In sleepless nights I wrote a lot
About Anthi and Greek gods
And goddesses and Rigópoula
And Eléni leaving Cryssarina
When my goddess became all my love and all my life
Without a lack
Turning Greece into my love
...
And in my sleep I did not know
Twelve deities who will not go
With Athena they always lived
She was the only one to give
Telling what we all needed to understand
We listened
To the words of Athena
...
M I want you here with me
We were never really free
Read my words that I might show you
See my love that I might touch you
But my words like falcons fly high
And soar into Athena’s sky
...
And we waited and we prayed
To your statue of stone and clay
And our love for you was warming
In words that Patrick was writing
And the message was clear saying return
To your home in Athens with peace
And love for all
In your never-ending arena
Please note that you can sing Simon & Garfunkel's Sound of Silence with the words of my poem. They seem to sound almost as well as the original ones.
Thank you for reading and or singing!
Dedicated to Anthi Psomiadou, Rigópoula Tsambounieris Talarantas, and, of course, Goddess Athena.
