Held in the Dream Catcher
The destroyer of bad dreams

Held in the Dream Catcher
A dream catcher hangs in silent night,
Threads of colour, drawn in tight,
Feathers fall like whispered prayer,
Guarding all that drifts through air.
Petals form a watchful eye,
Still and open to the sky,
Every strand begins to weave,
What we fear and what we believe.
I feel the pull of older ground,
Echoes without shape or sound,
Dreams pass through but not all stay,
Some are caught and turned away.
What is kept is not by chance,
Held within its woven trance,
Hands that made it understood,
How to sift the dark from good.
I stand beneath its careful thread,
Where restless thoughts are gently led,
Not all shadows make it through,
Some are broken, some made new.
Still it sways and still I see,
Something reaching into me,
Not to take or make me fall,
Only guard what dreams may call.
