Healing
For my fellow Indigenous people that have found healing through their culture, I love you and I believe in you.

To sew buttons on a blanket
And pass on a name
To honor my grandmother
By wearing her jewelry
To sing the songs of my people
That have been nearly lost
The beat of a drum
Loud as my beating heart
The power I feel in every step
I know my ancestors are with me
My moccasins dance
As if leading the way
Our past filled with sorrow
Yet here we still stand
We will continue to grow
We will heal in time
And begin to not only find
but love ourselves
once again
