He’s At War With His Demons
Battles on a daily basis
He dreams in technicolor, vivid and real
As he chases his demons every night,
Awake and asleep, he tries to slay them
Not giving in to their terror and fright.

During the daylight hours he hides
Keeping a tight rein on their antics,
While waiting for his dreamscape
Spending his days upset and frantic.
***
His demons are out of control lately
He struggles daily to find any hope,
Nightly he wears himself out in combat
Day after day, he struggles to cope.
***
Something needs to give, he knows
As he ruins another loving relationship,
Regret, lost hope and deep despair
Slay his demons or tame his ego trip.
***
Maybe tonight will be the night he wins
As he enters his dreamscape prepared,
He battles, he struggles, he is at war
Knowing the damage cannot be repaired.
***
It’s not all a total loss, as he has a plan
To replace those that he pushed away,
He has a line up of future possibilities
They’ll fail too if his demons aren’t slayed.
***
I watch as he sacrifices yet another love
Allowing his demons to fight at all cost,
It’s heartbreaking to watch him again fall
When he’s already grieving for all he’s lost.
