HE RAPED ME
He made me his slave girl poem 3 of 5

HE RAPED ME
He stole the word no
Straight from my mouth,
Turned all my courage
And stamped it all out.
I froze like a shadow,
Too frightened to move,
While he took what was mine
With nothing to prove.
I counted the seconds,
I stared at the wall,
I left my own body
And felt myself fall.
Then afterwards silence
Sat heavy on me,
A prison of questions
That would not set me free.
Why did I trust him?
Why did I stay?
Why did my voice
Just vanish away?
But shame was not mine,
The guilt was not too,
The monster was him,
Whatever I knew.
My clothes were not guilty,
My smile was no yes,
My body was never
His right to possess.
He raped me that night,
But I will not remain
The woman he buried
Beneath all that pain.
I am slowly returning,
One heartbeat at a time,
Taking back the life
That was always mine.
