He Hung Himself

Pass the Pain

By D.P. CasonPublished 5 months ago • 1 min read

He hung himself today.

I guess the pain became too great.

Lord knows if he fought it.

All I know is he disappeared.

He played with the noose for some time.

It brought him comfort I suppose.

Lord knows it scared us to death.

He looked better for a while.

Things seemed to be going alright.

Lord knows why he picked the noose again.

I never will.

He disappeared, then surfaced for breath.

He didn't seem quite the same.

Lord knew he would disappear again.

This time he didn't turn back up.

We found him in the tree.

He passed on his hurt.

Lord knows if he didn't want to.

All I know is he hung himself today.

A year has passed.

Five.

Ten.

All I know is he hung himself today.

Grass has grown where they buried him.

The tree died along the way.

But to me, it feels like he hung himself today.
