He Beat Me, He Killed Me
No one could have saved me. He took me out of the picture 5 of 5 poems the end

He Beat Me, He Killed Me
He beat me in silence,
Behind a closed door,
Then promised quite calmly
He’d do it no more.
He brought me some flowers,
He begged me to stay,
Then crushed every petal
The very next day.
I covered the bruises,
I painted my face,
And walked among people
Who noticed no trace.
I smiled when they asked me
If everything’s fine,
While living beside him
Was serving a sentence in time.
My family kept waiting,
My friends slowly went,
He stole every letter
And message they sent.
Then one final evening,
His violence went wild,
He murdered the woman
Who once was a child.
Now one chair is empty,
White flowers remain,
A candle remembers
Her suffering and pain.
Please speak for the women
Whose voices are still,
Whose killers said sorry,
Then went for the kill.
He beat me, he killed me,
But don’t hide my name,
I wasn’t his victim
To torture and blame.
I was somebody’s daughter,
A sister, a friend,
I deserved love and living,
Not this terrible end.
