Hazy Dawn

A Sonnet to Comfort

Scents pirouette around my waking head;

Cool morning air spiced soft with crackling fire;

The weight of velvet quilt turns lazy legs to lead

And dancing dreams of night turn wake and sleep to mire.

Soft sounds of larks intone the rising sun

While breath from deep within awakes my mind.

The web of dreams unravels what was spun

To make new space for thoughts to be designed.

The smell of breakfast sizzles in the air

With coffee tinted breezes swirling by.

A morning free of duties calms my care

While golden pink and purple fill the sky.

I stretch my toes and wiggle my fingers

Longing in peace, the hazy dawn lingers.
