Have You Ever
Found the ultimate truth

Have you ever climbed a mountain
And felt your life suddenly stall?
Have you ever watched the sunrise
And realised your life is quite small?
Have you ever listened to the rainforest
And heeded nature’s wild song?
Have you ever swum in the ocean
And wondered where you belong?
Have you ever endured the desert
And felt it’s over powering will?
Have you ever walked the streets
Looking for a modern day thrill?
Have you ever had a dream
One that you would like to share?
Have you ever needed a friend
But there’s never anyone there?
Have you ever wished for a love
Someone to call your very own?
Have you ever known the reason
Why you always feel alone?
Have you ever searched for life’s purpose
Discovering it’s impossible to find?
Have you ever felt your life’s incomplete
There’s got to be more by design?
Have you ever searched for an answer
But you find that it’s never there?
Have you ever been beaten by life
No matter how much you prepare?
Have you ever considered life is a fantasy
Nothing but a dream that won’t come true?
Have you ever had an alternate reality
One that you’d found you outgrew?
Have you ever searched high and low
To discover what the ultimate truth may be,
Have you ever found the answers
If so, I am hoping that you’ll tell me?

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
