Like the beggar pondering his sorrowful lot

Like a soldier after the battle's been fought

Like The scientist wondering what God hath wrought

Have you ever been lost in thought?

Have you ever been lost in your head?

Like a child alone and filled with dread

Like a sheep without a shepherd led

Like a dreamer lacking a nice soft bed

Have you ever been lost in your head?

Have you ever been lost in your mind?

Like a lion cub away from his kind

Like a lover's letter left unsigned

Like the eye that made the whole world blind

Have you ever been lost in your mind?

Have you ever been lost in form?

Like the artist who can't accept the norm

Like the worm in the rain of the blessed morn

Like the wife who can't release her scorn

Have you ever been lost in form?

Have you ever been lost in a haze?

Like Theseus lacking a thread in his maze

Like a fighter struggling to come out of his daze

Like the tech-happy driver without having his Waze

Have you ever been lost in a haze?

Have you ever been lost in a dream?

Like the lighthouse not casting its beam

Like the football player split off from his team

Like the dress with an unfinished seam

Have you ever been lost in a dream?

Like the goose led astray from his flock

Like the businessman thinking joy can be bought

Like the man who built his house not on rock
