Have we asked about the welfare of the butterfly lately?

I think I heard her wings groaning louder than a showy motorist,

I think I saw her floating near that dying bush in the yard.

She looked like she wanted to join.

Have we asked about the welfare of the butterfly lately?

It’s almost like I felt her skeleton breaking last night.

Almost like she chased every temptation that rotted in her brain last night.

Almost like she tried to make herself a virgin again.

Get herself clean last night.

Almost like the corruption of his DNA bled itself into hers last night.

Have we asked about the welfare of the butterfly lately?

I think I saw her grabbing chocolate on Sunday.

Knowing she’d feel guilty by Monday

But the garbage that sat in her gut made eating a ritual.

Her wings would flap so hard they would ignite the hut she buried herself under

She’d become one with the spirit of dead trees.

Crushed into paper, crushed into an obituary

A girl who couldn’t handle life anymore

Or a girl who had no more life?

And see

This is why I ask you

Have we asked about the welfare of the butterfly lately?
