Little gem
on the vine,
on the branch,
on the stem.
You shine
and glisten
amongst the foliage.
Chameleon
under leaf,
under sun,
under rain.
You shift
your colors
from day to day.
Sustenance
from the earth,
from the dew,
from the light.
You bring
your richness
to my plate.
–
How pleasant to stumble upon
a little gem,
a chameleon,
of sustenance
tucked behind a thorn.
How beautiful
to find food,
to find life,
to find joy,
growing beneath a flower.
How comforting
to know,
to understand,
to believe
in the safeness of this meal.
How peaceful
to know truly
how this gift grew.
