Halloween

Seasonal Poem

Blood-stained hearts

Abandoned in pitch-black rooms

Devoid of any ceiling

Exposed to the dim light of the

Majestic moon marrying the night stars

Dancing along to the song

Of children’s laughs and screams

As they collect candy from

Neighborhood strangers

And the teenagers get drunk

At parties where everyone throws on

A singular out-of-the-ordinary accessory

And calls it a costume.

Hearts of horror filled and broken

In abandoned pitch-black chests

Missing heads provide safety and cover

From the blinding light of the

Manipulative moon and the

Sinister stars in the

Naked night sky

Singing along to the song

Of Halloween’s jittery joy and

Dangerous delite.
