When she didn’t protect her heart enough

WAR

*

You thought she wouldn’t

inhale the power that stirred

tornados in her?

*

You thought she wouldn’t

harness her sacred fire that

brewed for centuries?

*

You thought she couldn’t

swish rage in her mouth and not

choke when she swallowed?

*

You thought she didn’t

hush the aches that erupted

when you disappeared?

*

Did you fail to see

that it isn’t just her it's

her ancestors too,

*

lined up behind her

even more sadistic than

you set out to be?

*

Her obsidian blade

rests on her bedside table

awaiting its time.
