I need to get back to it

I need to get back to it.

I need to finish what I started.

I said I would complete it and

because it's not done,

it's effecting my ability to accomplish anything else.

*

I tried to settle in the work

I thought so necessary,

assuming the difficulty in getting my eyes to focus,

and stopping my hands from shaking,

and keeping my mind in front of me,

were simply

obstacles to overcome.

I assumed the toughest tasks

did not want to be done.

*

I did not realize it was protection.

I did not know that each time

I turned my face toward it,

my guardian angel was telling me to shut my eyes.

I did not know the tightness in my chest

was my angel's hand pressing gently

to prevent me from wasting time

on the vehemently unnecessary.

*

It took a long time

to hear my angel's voice, whispering,

"You don't need to finish this.

You need to let it go."
