Growing
A Gardener/Teacher Metaphor
By Julie LacksonenPublished 6 months ago • Updated 6 months ago • 1 min read

One of author’s lettuce plants
Hands on
Willingly toiling for those for which she cares deeply
Digging into prior knowledge
Planting new information
Making sure material is absorbed
Waiting for roots to develop and signs of growth
Pulling incorrect facts
Pruning away mistaken notions
Finally, harvesting
Watching the thriving lives,
Enjoying that for which she labored.
Then, waiting
For next year's crop.
