grieve no more
Of how a girl turned into a woman because you loved her like one…

I don’t know how to grieve you
Because grieving you means
I leave you
And leaving you means
there is no more
No more doodles on sticky notes
Or words of affirmation
No more long embraces
Or drawn out conversations
No more seeing a woman
Not for her body
But as person with thoughts and emotions
Or new, sweet surprises each day
Rather than going through the motions
No more to the story
Of how you changed me
In ways
I cannot speak
without tearing up
Of how a girl turned into a woman
Because you loved her like one
