Grief

An Abecedarian Poem

By J.SkylarPublished 3 years ago • Updated 3 years ago • 1 min read

Answers aren’t found in ashes,

Burials, or tombs.

Catacombs don’t know the

Depths of my tender hidden wounds.

Existing hurts when those I’ve loved

Face this life no more. No

God to tell me

How to heal or what

It all was for.

Just because the journey looks

Kind, doesn’t mean it’s fair. This

Life of laughter, love, and longing

Moves memories to tears.

Never did my soul so ache

Outstretched, in disrepair, a

Part departed with the departed, and more

Questions in the air.

Resting in peace while in pieces I lay.

Swallowing sorrow like

There is no tomorrow, trapped

Under current where I pray,

Vowing to remember, every single day,

When the weight of waves carry me away. Grief is

Xenomorphic, always

Yearning for what cannot be, and here I drift beside the coastline like a

Zombie in its sea.
