The veins of trees extend beyond their leaves

The water pulled from roots support their height

The earth well suit to house all of its needs

Though now its strength has since been prone to plight

______

From Earth, born life between both beasts and man

Its arms bear fruit set forth to bring them life

Though greed and take shall soon come fast to span

As sins of man bring rush to global strife

______

Concern for one will lead thee far astray

We need caution to keep our worldly share

Yet still, man takes, and green will turn to gray

As Earth will dry then wilt and spark in flare

______

Soon men will weep at foot of Earth's great urn

Yet turn their eyes on sight of the first burn.

About the Creator

Michael Lamarche

During the Pandemic, I sought to explore writing. I genuinely thought I was on the cusp of poetic genuis, creating metaphors only comparable to Shakespeare himself. Now, I see I fall more under a Dr. Seuss level - only without the racism.
