Green is the color of my true clown’s hair

A villanelle

Behind my skin their lives another version of me

Summoned with paints, glitters, and powders

I’m my own art, that’s my own guarantee

It starts with a base, an alabaster sea

then blush inspired by nature’s flowers

Behind my skin their lives another version of me

For the crease of my eyes, paint on the color of ghee

Draw you into my sights, leave you free to devour

I’m my own art, that my own guarantee

Glue lashes down, blue caterpillars set free,

I emerge my true self, a human, but louder.

Behind my skin their lives another version of me

A clown complete with an emerald goatee

Face made of rainbows my own superpower

I’m my own art, that my own guarantee

Throw on my wig, green for growing into who I want to be.

In a world of greys, I won’t sit and cower

Behind my skin their lives another version of me

I’m my own art, that my own guarantee

behind my skin their lives another version of me

Summoned with paints, glitters, and powders

I’m my own art, that my own guarantee
