Overshadow the truth of misery

Where lay our sundered Luscitania?

Where lies our sunken Harbor of Pearls?

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

Inspiration stolen and buried

Without a trace, it's disappeared

Motivation faded and evaporated

White flag soiled but unfurled

Left only are the hunger pangs

Fed certain knowledge

Paralyzed with fear

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

Once, we all wailed

Heartbroken, shrouded in open cries of injustice

"Never again" our declaration

Now, we beat our breasts in lamentation

No rescue to seek

No promise of an end for the meek

No mercy for those fallen and weak

Tears stick in clogged ducts

Dried and crusty

Moisture evaporates

Under the heat of scrutiny

Banners lay limp in the terminal lack

Of fresh breezes

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

What has become of the diefic Justitia?

Her stony body, frozen in place

Sculpted scales upheld in symbol

Peace, a laughable, outdated myth

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

Where lies our courage or compassion?

In a vast abyssmal grave

Mashed and broken in the fearful tumult

Jolting us all awake

To the new reality

Where what's right and what's done

Reside on vastly different rungs

And climbing drains all

Determination from heart and lung

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

Where lies our generous love?

Agape, a concept all but unheard of

Attacks of conscience treated away

Claims of madness

Distort natural ties to the community

Compassion worn thin

Sight spirals

While might steamrolls

Its guilting tug

Leaves us flattened at the end

Of good intentions' rope

Insomnia stricken we

Whimper and grope

Desperate for a change

In the winds of hope

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

Global treaties rely on honesty

On acquiescence to flying freely

Today, only freedom of action

Only personal gain

Public appeal retain

Charity, foresight

Fall in the wake of the clouded current

Contentment and guilt

Replaced with fear and ecstasy

Waves of egotism and avarice

Blunting the soul of humanity
