Grave wind
I walked where bones slept,
The wind carried names I could not speak,
Trees bent like mourners,
Their roots reaching for something lost.
A crow circled my heart,
It cawed in echoes of endings,
I felt the earth breathe,
And wondered if I belonged.
The graves hummed beneath my feet,
Shadows twined with my shoes,
A hand brushed the air,
And vanished before I could touch it.
I listened to the wind,
It sang for me alone,
The night carried its own grief,
And I walked with it.
A cold stone pressed against my chest,
The moon hid behind thin clouds,
The air carried whispers of decay,
And I felt the pulse of death.
The ground shifted beneath my steps,
The crow circled one last time,
It left me in the silence,
And I became a shadow too.
