Fold in the silence
sprinkle with time
linger on words
that age like a wine.
Squeeze out reality
just for today
while generously whisking
an adventure your way.
Sip upon tales
from a long time ago
add in a character
be it hero or foe.
A dash of imagination
a sprinkle of fear
stir in emotions
as dragons appear.
Season the stars
with cheese from the moon
gobble it up
like soup in a spoon.
Let your stories rise
before they bake in your mind
coat them in icing
grate with fruit rind.
Preheat your pleasure
and a romance is born
while two lonely souls
sauté a love that is torn.
Mix in wee hobbits
custard or creams
Blanche' a dark mansion
to hear bloodthirsty screams.
Baste' in the pages
spread yourself betwix lines
glaze over the moment
Preparing to dine.
Sift an old graveyard
stir in the dark night
add a zombie or ghoul
for a delectable fright.
Savor this taste
salty or sweet
remember that reading
is always a treat.
There’s no finer recipe
no matter where you look
then when you disappear
Immersed in a book.
