Got What I Wanted

But all I can do is cry.

Walking down the street, people stop and stare. I don’t mind. I keep walking with a happy air. But outside, I live a lie. Inside a part of me has died.

Look me in the eye and you’ll see the real me. Trying to break through, trying to break free. I wish you didn’t have to know, Don’t wanna let my feelings show. One of these days you’re gonna know:

I got what I wanted, but it’s killing me inside. I got what I wanted and I can barely survive.

Seeing you so happy breaks my heart internally. I thought I could take it, be the better man. The fact of the matter is Outside I smile, inside I’m all tears.

As your best friend, I’m happy, so happy for you. I wish you all the happiness, never will you be blue. I’d rather keep silent, For it’s not my intent To ever, ever let you know:

I got what I wanted, but it’s killing me inside. I got what I wanted and I can barely survive. To get what I wanted, I paid a price too high. Oh, I got what I wanted, but all I can do is cry.

Each day gets a little better, I grow a little stronger And I settle into my new role. Still, there’s an emptiness, hard to describe, Hard to deny as time goes by.

I got what I wanted, but it’s killing me inside. I got what I wanted, and I can barely survive. To get what I wanted, I paid a price too high. Oh, I got what I wanted, but all I can do is cry.

Oh, I got what I wanted… But all I do is cry.
