Goodbye, Nickel

A Poem

The summer that made us has faded away.

Some of the memories are lost in the gray.

We no longer know if our passions could dance -

together, in sync, like a well-timed romance.

Your voice, harmony, lingers in walls

that once heard us singing that one simple song.

Past echoes of you and old whispers of me

stand etched in our wrinkles that will come to be.

Farewell to you, darling, for when our lives crossed,

each to the other a piece of us lost.
