As evidenced by the gouge, scarring precisely where you slid into 2024.

Bittersweet, the memory of the year, year 2023,

Covered in a veil of tragedy you're serving selfishly.

Destiny gave no reprieve in its delivery of one's fate.

Even if it had would you have changed the date?

Familiar, not, the new normal, of which one is entwined.

Granting no acceptance, one will not find.

Harbored deep within the shallows of one's mind.

Innocence no longer lingers as it's been left behind.

Jealousy impersonates a frail personality.

Killing any resemblance of who one used to be.

Leaving only loneliness, isolation and disparity.

Meticulously replacing the memories once cherished.

Notoriety you've gained while all else has perished.

Opportunity was yours for the taking, and freely did you take.

Promising nothing in the madness of your wake.

Quietly without invitation you made your reservation.

Renting space in one's mind that you will never pay.

Secretly you kept your agenda as you made your way.

Taking what was not yours ever since New Years Day.

Unstable in your steps you managed to go unheard.

Vindication would free you of your unspoken word.

What's to become of those who may not find the door?

XOXO hugs and kisses, not from you for sure!

You're gracefully sliding through into 2024?

Zip, zero, is your accountability, so good riddance to you 2023!

I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges and losses you faced in 2023, especially the passing of your daughter. Your poem reflects the bittersweet nature of life, acknowledging both the blessings and the profound sorrows that coexist. It's a poignant expression of the complex emotions tied to the passing year. I hope that, as you move into 2024, you find moments of solace and support to navigate through the complexities of life.
