How tiresome
this era.
How very weary
the adversity and burdens
currently plaguing the work force.
Only the supercilious wealthy
lack the despondency of the masses,
owing to a distinct lack of hardship
and advantaged existence.
*
Most eke out a living,
avoiding poverty
by sheer will.
Woe are those
born without affluence
in this age.
Struggle they will.
*
How each generation
aches for
easy times,
yet time seems to be irrelevant
where misfortune is concerned.
Misery happens at
every stage of humanity.
Was there ever
really...
truly...
such a thing
as "the good old days?"
*
If so, it isn't now.
