Good-bye to Yesterday
- for the Tomorrow that never quite gets here.
As the shadow creeps and recedes,
Leaving just imperfect recollections,
Time is consumed by veiled reflections,
Despite forward being the only way it leads.

A life could be wastefully squandered,
Lost in the shades of yesterday.
Framed perfectly so we don’t turn away,
Leaving Life itself abandoned, unconquered.

Striding or stumbling into Tomorrow,
It matters not how we get here,
Through sweat, laughter or tear.
Utilise well something we cannot borrow.

Experience grows and changes us,
Not the steady progression of a number,
Or the self serving influencers we live under.
The turning of a page is not worth the fuss.

As today fades, making way for the future anew,
Yesterday belongs to memories and the past,
Things lost and things found, things not meant to last.
While Tomorrow holds in equal measure, luck to imbue,
Both good and bad, along side many opportunities for us to pursue.
Farewell 2023! It's been a bla... well, it's been something!
