flames heating up, things not feeling normal . . .
black lives matter, black lives matter . .
entering thy peaceful palace of heavenly promises . . .
pulling over a man over-intoxicated, in 1991, . . .
beating, beating, beating bhim . . . .
thy commoner, named, Rodney King . . .

replaying, repeating, and televising, . . .
showing, whilst asking, . . .
haven’t we seen this before?
changing channels, fasting, . . .
chanting, praying, singing, . . .
haven’t we seen this before?

Thank you for reading, for I grew up in Los Angeles and started to protest when Rodney King was beaten by the police because I knew the violence of the streets too well. Things need to change. Now we have ICE to fear, for I am part Latino.
