Gold, Brown, and Almost

on the timing of things

October,

Surrender and possibility,

existing as one.

Gold, brown, and almost..

the last leaf holding on.

A flower blooming

where nothing should.

Everything changing.

Nothing finished.

Is it the end?

The beginning?

Or the quiet permission to rest?

October is a mirror.

The light thins.

The masks come out.

Who are you

when the dark finds you?

Will you look away,

or finally look within?

There is so much to know,

so much unknown.

What to hold.

What to release.

What is holy.

What is fear dressed up as faith.

But the leaves always fall.

Never in a hurry.

Never all at once.

Never late.

Never too early.

Right. On. Time.

Unfinished, is still reaching.

An empty hand is not a loss,

but room.

For the truth.

So, when the last leaf falls,

when I can no longer tell

what is lost,

and what is becoming-

I will remember

the leaves do not compare,

they simply are,

and will always be,

eventually. ;)
