Note: the following piece should be sung to the tune of the Sex Pistols' 'God Save the Queen'. The coronation is tomorrow and even my Royalist-loving mom is not going to watch. So...

*

God save the king.

A totally different thing.

They made you showman,

A potential new man.

*

God save the king.

He just doing his thing,

And there's no failure.

And England's watching.

*

Don't be told what you are,

Don't be told what you been.

There's no failure,

No failure,

No failures on you.

*

God save the king,

We mean it, man.

We love our king.

God saves...

*

God save the king,

'Cause Camilla needs money?

And our figurehead

Is now what he believes.

*

Oh God save his story...

God save your mom's parade.

Oh Lord God have mercy,

All plans are laid.

*

Oh, when it's your future,

How can we fit in?

We're the flowers

In the compost bin.

We're the poison

In your recycling machine.

You're the future...

Not failure.

*

God save the king.

We mean it, man.

We love our king.

God saves...

God save the king.

We mean it, man.

There's no failure

In England's dreaming...

No failure.

No failure.

No failure (that's you).

No failure.

No failure.

No failure (we'll see).

No failure.

No failure.

No flies on you.

This was really cool actually. Loved the updated lyric a lot! Such a timely pieced too!

Whole world going to hell in a handbasket, I say. Way more important things to think about. I could take reparations, I was once under British rule. Fat lot of good it did me. 😎😂

  • Who cares? Only time will tell. Perhaps he will claim all the respect of Queen Elizabeth or the adoration of Princess Di. But only time will tell.

That was brilliant! The only shame is he'll never see it unless you get it recorded and out there today! Beautifully satirical and perfectly timed!

Yeah. I'm feeling it's time to shuck off this particular very mortal royal coil too. Many of the Carribean nations are going Republic aren't they Kendall? The Commonwealth has some value as an organization, but this dumb figurehead business is way past its prime IMHO. Canada doesn't need Chuckles the King. Great idea for your poem!

So much said in this slam poem. I'm not British so I'm not going to comment on monarchy and whether it is time for England to transition away from the royals. God knows America has to work on getting its act together. Enjoyed your poem 😊
