It’s funny

how

someone can know you for years,

and in a matter of minutes,

can rewind the clock

to the moment

They are

a Stranger.

“I know how you feel.”

“I lost my cat,”

They say.

“I’m so sorry,” I say.

Of course you know

How I feel.

You changed their litter.

I changed a diaper.

Same thing.

I’m not bitter.

They both like tuna

I guess

it’s time to go fishing

for new friends.

Friendship
