Gnawing Gloom, In Bloom

To walk away from scoffing fumes

By A. S. LawrencePublished 4 months ago • 1 min read
The doubt behind reminds I guessed

The voice behind me whispers doom,

The joy of motion well suppressed,

While beauty's up ahead in bloom.

The span of world shrinks down to room.

The nagging hate betrays our quest.

The voice behind me whispers doom.

The cramping walls, nostalgic tomb,

They threaten me with docile rest

While beauty's up ahead in bloom.

I find more love to be exhumed.

Before our hearts can get undressed,

The voice behind me whispers doom.

The jabbing pokes of gnawing gloom

Make every moment bitter test

While beauty's up ahead in bloom.

I walk away from scoffing fumes

And leave behind the jaded pest.

The voice behind me whispers doom

While beauty's up ahead in bloom.
