Glass In The Wind

Where will the broken pieces fall?

as i lie awake from the night, listening to the wind's roaring

moments i can't stand, fill every morning

days lose their color, as the overcast continues pouring

by the minute, and with every coming and going of the moon,

peace becomes harder, and harder to believe in‐

can a heart really mourn what has never been?

and as for hope, tis but a thing of the past‐

burned down alongside what bridges to joy there used to be,

now, nothing more than smoke in the air‐

and as for my heart, or rather, what used to be,

is just glass in the wind‐

gone with the last of my ends that never met

along with all amends i couldn't make

memories are records scratched by regret

songs from the past that play in the present

music to my face, i have to turn away

from chances i wish i didn't take

what i wasn't given, and what i thought i had to take

what i've given and what's been taken away

life can't be just give and take,

but every broken promise is a serenade

i wish i was given the want to stay,

but instead i am given all i can't take

simply set to endure this suffering as a heartless being‐

my heart, or rather, what used to be

is just glass in the wind

shards scattered about from this world' torrent

shattered and thrown about by life's torment

just glass in the wind‐

About the Creator

JM

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
