Give & Take VI

Life has taken from me what I wished to be given... -but there's still one thing, just one, that I can take myself.

Oh what I'd give

to quiet the space behind my eyes...

my last breath‐

and for perfect silence?...

everything.

~

No longer am I looking for a momentary stillness,

only a form of rest from this form of busyness that sounds, and is permanent‐

I've reached the point that I'd trade anything

to rid myself of this perpetual noise, which I never requested,

and to take for myself, the noiselessness that I wished to be given to me.

~

I suppose that

what I've been asking for is absence...

not peace‐

because peace has never solved a problem of mine...

forced from my hands, soundlessness, taken from me in exchange for sleepless nights given in its place.

~

Oh how I long to let go

of everything, in favor of any permanent solution‐

to take away from myself, all breath that remains

that nothing may be given to, nor taken away again...

as I'd rather anything than give any more of what time isn't even mine to endure, any more of what this world continues to take from me.

About the Creator

JM

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
