Give & Take III: Everything & Nothing

I have -almost- nothing left to give, -almost- nothing left that can be taken...

oh, what i'd give,

for freedom‐

everything, but‐

i have nothing

nothing to give,

and nothing left that can be taken,

but my own breath‐

and if that were taken too,

what would be waiting for me afterwards?

freedom?

or another nightmare?

apathy has been gifted to me,

so i would, if i could, care‐

happiness might as well be a vice,

as fast as it strays from me‐

chasing all that is contemporary, i have come to lose

everything‐

all that desire has taken from me,

it has given back, ten-fold its polar opposite‐

pieces of a peace-less world surround me,

the glass in the wind can only continue

giving me lashes, adding to my scars,

the only patient, in a patience-less nightmare‐

oh, what i'd give,

for freedom‐

everything but,

i have nothing

nothing to give,

and nothing left to be taken

but my own breath‐

but if i were to give that too,

as i most assuredly would‐

who is waiting for me to make that wish?

to give the rest of my days‐

is it freedom?

or another nightmare?

i would care‐

but i can't,

that ability was taken from me

replaced with apathy's faceless curse

given to me,

after hope was taken

a friend, turned into a foe‐

oh, what i'd give,

for freedom‐

everything, but‐

i have nothing to give,

i have nothing that can be taken,

other than my own breath‐

but if i give that too,

as i make this, very

dangerous wish,

who or what will be waiting for thereafter?

will it be freedom?

or just another nightmare?

JM

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
