Give & Take

Life often gives to me what I wish it would take, and takes away what I wish it would give.

oh what i'd give, to quiet the chaos

my voice

what i'd sacrifice, for a single season of silence

all of my breath

for just one quiet night

the rest of my days

for a way out of this nightmare

all of my dreams

for any kind of peace,

for a ceasefire in the war upstairs,

for everything to stop,

everything

even if it meant the same for the vessel in my chest‐

what i'd give, to have back what this torment has taken from me

everything‐

everything

i'd just leap, at the first opportunity to trade away this torture appointed to me

give everything i've acquired for all that was taken from me,

take back what this "gift" of life has of mine

peace

freedom

and give back what the present has forced upon me

lightlessness

broken promises

everything is give and take,

and i've been given everything, but a reason to stay

About the Creator

JM

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
