Girl in the Woods

A poem based on my sister's painting

By Sarah LoydPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read
(painting by Elisabeth Loyd, my sister)

Travel on a path

A path long and wide

Through frosted-tipped trees

Pink daisies by my side

***

I carry my daisies as companions

Can't travel alone

Don' know where I'm going

Don't know what lies upon

***

Upon the land behind the hills

Green as my dress

It's all about the journey

I could wander aimless

***

I need to see the world

Beyond the pine and grass

Beautiful pretty sights

I can look on as I pass

***

When will the journey end?

Who knows

The girl in the woods

Will go where the wind blows
