Gifted For Her Undying Determination
A fight to the bloody end
The sun dawned to chase away the cold darkness that blanketed the world,
Highlighting the smile that adorned her face,
The breeze whispered words of gratitude within her ears, thankful for her stubbornness,
In awe of her fight, her determination, no matter what the cost.

Decades in the making, disbelief still reigns upon her thoughts,
She often questions her reality; is it but a dream?
Understanding settling upon her shoulders as she gazes around,
The pristine blue sky says it’s so — so, it is!
******
She has been given a gift, one she had believed as unreachable for so long,
Years warding a fragile heart; chained, locked and bolted,
Shattered into a million jigsaw pieces that she slowly bricked back together,
Single-handedly healing each broken shard with her self-love.
******
Safe now within a life hard fought, a battle of trepidation and defiance,
Mood swings on a pendulum of insanity; destruction at its core,
She now knows the wait was her warrior’s battle armour,
Necessary to shore up the cracks to ensure she comes through in one piece.
******
Days of drowning confusion bolstered her inner strength,
Repairing her delicate self-esteem and binding her resilience,
To be sure she was strong enough to stand her ground,
And fight to the bloody end.
******
Freedom!
Her ultimate prize!
Landing in timely hands,
Gifted upon strengthened shoulders so she can breathe once again!
